Mawaan is a BAFTA winning actor and writer. He won the BAFTA TV award for Male Performance in a Comedy for his critically acclaimed BBC show Juice, which he wrote, starred and exec produced. It co-stars Russell Tovey, his mother Shahnaz Rizwan and his brother Nabhaan Rizwan. Mawaan was also nominated in the BAFTA Writer, Comedy and Emerging Talent, Fiction categories. Juice has been recommissioned for a second series following the huge success of series 1.
Mawaan has also starred in Two Weeks to Live alongside Maisie Williams, a 6 part comedy series for HBO Max as well as the BAFTA winning BBC drama ‘Murdered By My Father’.
Mawaan’s writing credit on Netflix' 'Sex Education' (series 2 and 3) earned him a spot on Forbes' 30 under 30 list.
As a comedian, Mawaan has appeared on BBC2's Live at the Apollo, Channel 4's Taskmaster and CBC Gem’s Jonathan Van Ness’s JFL Gala, captivating audiences with his unique blend of outlandish physicality and confessional stand-up. His live performances of his songs 'Mango' and 'Never Been Skiing' both went viral.
